In the aftermath of Senate approval of sweeping immigration reform last month, SIA continues to advocate for the House of Representatives to pass a comprehensive immigration bill that addresses high-skilled visa reform.

This week, SIA joined more than 400 businesses and associations in sending a letter to House Leadership urging the prompt enactment of legislation that brings meaningful reforms to critical components of America’s immigration system:https://www.semiconductors.org/clientuploads/innovation.jpg

“Failure to act is not an option. We can’t afford to be content and watch a generation-old immigration system work more and more against our overall national interest. Instead, we urge Congress to remain mindful of the clear benefits to our economy if we succeed, and work together and with us to achieve real, pro-growth immigration reform.”

SIA has long supported high-skilled immigration reform efforts, which have generally been popular among members of both political parties. Unfortunately, for too long these common sense high-skilled provisions have been held captive to more controversial immigration reforms dealing with border security and undocumented immigrants.

With U.S. businesses’ increasingly urgent need for access to the world’s top talent, and with looming legislative battles on spending and the national debt threatening to suck the air out of immigration reform efforts, the time for inaction on immigration is over.

SIA will continue to urge House members to put aside political differences and do what’s right for America by acting swiftly to pass comprehensive immigration reform legislation.
