The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) is seeking candidates to help develop, support and advance the policy goals of the SIA and member companies as their Manager, Government Affairs. They will engage in advocacy before Congress, the Administration, and federal departments and agencies on EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) and other policy priorities.
Successful candidates should have: a demonstrated record of achievement in formulating and executing successful strategies in achieving policy goals, demonstrate excellent professional judgment, and possess the ability to represent SIA before policymakers, member companies and other stakeholders. Experience in EHS policy is needed as well as a willingness to take on responsibilities in other issue areas.
Key Responsibilities:
• Will work on a range of policy priorities of the semiconductor industry, including guiding the industry’s strategy and positioning on matters related to chemicals regulation, climate change, and other EHS issues and other policy matter as assigned.
• This position engages in the daily monitoring of policy developments, provides timely and effective information and analysis to member companies, coordinates the industry’s position on policy matters, and implements the industry’s advocacy.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree is strongly preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience on policy matters, including experience in EHS issues, in a government, policy, consulting, legal, or technical role. Background in a scientific or technical field related to EHS policy is strongly preferred.
• An understanding of the technical and policy issues and political landscape and the federal legislative and regulatory process.
• Strong analytical skills and outstanding judgment in evaluating legislative, regulatory, and policy developments and creating the necessary strategies, supporting information, and written documents to achieve the industry’s business and sustainability goals.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills and an ability to allow the individual to advocate on issues effectively with lawmakers, policy makers, regulators and other key officials, and to interact with senior executives in member companies and outside consultants.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team to produce high quality work, often under significant time pressure.
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to bring individuals on opposing sides together.
Travel: Requires periodic domestic and international travel.
