The widespread shortage of semiconductors that began in late 2020 has highlighted how indispensable these components are in today’s economy. A foundational element of the semiconductor industry is its global supply chain, developed over the past three decades, which has enabled the industry to deliver continual leaps in cost savings and performance enhancements that ultimately made possible the explosion in information technology and digital services. SIA and the Boston Consulting Group recently co-authored a report analyzing the benefits and vulnerabilities of the global semiconductor supply chain. Please join SIA for a 45-minute briefing examining the semiconductor supply chain and what government can do to strengthen it.
