CEO HASSANE EL-KHOURY ELECTED TO SIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

WASHINGTON—Sept. 14, 2017—The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), representing U.S. leadership in semiconductor manufacturing, design, and research, today announced the addition of Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: CY) as an SIA member company. Cypress president and CEO Hassane El-Khoury was elected to the SIA board of directors at the association’s board meeting yesterday.

“Cypress is a welcome and important addition to SIA, bringing another influential voice to the table in support of semiconductor industry priorities,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO. “With Cypress in the SIA tent, the chorus of support grows louder for government policies that ensure our industry can continue to grow stronger and innovate, including initiatives that spur investments in basic scientific research, expand access to global markets, and make the U.S. tax system globally competitive. We are thrilled to have Cypress’ participation in this effort and excited to welcome Hassane El-Khoury to the SIA board of directors.”

Prior to his current role at Cypress, El-Khoury served as executive vice president of Cypress’ Programmable Systems Division, managing the company’s standard and programmable microcontroller (MCU) portfolio, including its Platform PSoC® family of devices, and its automotive business. Previously, El-Khoury ran Cypress’ automotive business unit, architecting its human-machine interface strategy—which is focused on the automotive touch business—and spearheading its effort to target the growing infotainment, instrumentation cluster and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) segments. El-Khoury holds a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Mich., and a master’s degree in engineering management from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Mich.

“Semiconductor technology has unleashed many of the great, transformative innovations of our time, and with each new breakthrough, the need for smart government policy grows more evident,” said El-Khoury. “Cypress loves to solve problems, so we’re eager to expand our collaboration with industry peers in support of initiatives that promote growth and innovation in our industry and throughout the economy.”

Cypress joins five additional U.S. semiconductor companies that have become SIA members within the last year: Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDTI), Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL), Qorvo (NASDAQ:QRVO), Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: SWKS), and Western Digital Corporation (NASDAQ: WDC).
