As the world navigates the COVID-19 global health crisis, companies in the semiconductor industry and many other sectors are grappling with a challenging supply chain landscape and significant market uncertainty, which could linger for months or longer. SIA, in partnership with Salesforce, hosted a webinar on May 27 to discuss these challenges and how to overcome them.

The webinar, moderated by SIA President and CEO John Neuffer, featured Cindy Bolt, Senior Vice President for Salesforce Industries, and Sonny Cave, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Chief Risk Officer at ON Semiconductor.

Bolt outlined a roadmap for rapid response and resiliency through COVID-19. She noted that throughout the recovery effort, Salesforce has relied on its core values as a company. Bolt highlighted three main pillars for success in overcoming the crisis: transparent leadership, empowered employees, and engaged customers.

Cave spoke about the role of enterprise risk management, business continuity, and compliance and ethics in navigating the COVID-19 crisis. Cave’s priorities for continuing success through COVID-19 include maintaining strong values, good management and strategy programs, and being prepared. Cave encouraged developing a strong enterprise risk management team to ensure your company is operating in the sweet spot of balanced risk taking.

Both speakers said the digital environment we have been thrown quickly into was always coming, but COVID-19 has accelerated the change. They noted that the business world will become more digital, and companies must learn to adapt while still providing high quality products and engagement with customers.
