The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) is hosting a semiconductor workforce and education roundtable on Tuesday, July 25, in Washington D.C. The roundtable will drive discussion across industry, government, and academia about challenges and opportunities in the workforce and education for semiconductor R&D and manufacturing. The roundtable will feature Dr. Laurie Locascio, Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology; Dr. Lora Weiss, Director of the CHIPS R&D Office; and Dr. Erwin Gianchandani, National Science Foundation Assistant Director for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships. A tentative agenda is available below.
The goal of this roundtable is to build towards a specific set of solutions for the semiconductor workforce that have been previously suggested or identified in semiconductor workforce events, reports, and via the activities of the Industrial Advisory Committee (IAC) subcommittee on workforce.
This event will be the first in a series of events in a semiconductor workforce roundtable series to explore the best solutions and address the challenges and opportunities for building and sustaining the science, technology, and engineering workforce necessary to support the needs of the semiconductor and microelectronics industry and establish the United States as a world leader in semiconductor research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
